God gives healing.

The Israelites murmured not about the battles but about their lack of food and water in the wilderness. It was the old ‘Egyptian appetite’ asserting itself again. Instead of meeting the need immediately, God first disciplined the people until they cried out for help.

In the reading from John, Jesus used the uplifted brazen serpent to picture his own death on the cross. He overcame the very thing that was killing us—sin. The only way for us to be saved is to look to Christ with faith. Let us look to him daily for encouragement and life!
