The members of the Council were amazed to see how bold Peter and John were.

Peter and John had spoken strongly, and the Council was astonished, considering that they were uneducated laymen. However, when they saw the evidence of the power of Jesusí resurrection, they had to acknowledge that these men were speaking the truth.

We often see the person who is educated and confident as the person who is right. This is not always a correct assumption. Sometimes the person with less education has more wisdom and understanding. I remember a person who filled this description. She was much maligned in the local community but has been for me a good example of the stone that was rejected. Lord, help me to see each person as you do, disregarding worldly appraisal.
