Fifth Sunday of Easter
Acts 6:1-7. Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you – Psalm 32(33):1-2, 4-5, 18-19. 1 Peter 2:4-9. John 14:1-12.
I am the Way, the Truth and the Life
Today’s Gospel and maybe every Gospel message comes down to three words: trust in God. Similar to the apostles, we ask so many questions, we demand signs, we overcomplicate things. It’s only our nature to want to know, to see and to test things against reason. Our busy minds miss the point. Jesus calls us to radical discipleship and to follow him in faith.
We are meant to keep faith in Jesus, not because he has a literal map of his way or because he has shown us the Father, but because Jesus is the way, and that by knowing him, we know the Father.
Jesus, I trust in you. Please help me to not put you to the test, demand signs or overthink things. May I trust in your word and remember you are the way, the truth and the life.
