Day of penance
Wisdom 2:1, 12-22. The Lord is near to broken hearts – Psalm 33(34):16, 18-21, 23. John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30.
Pray for those whose spirits are crushed
April Fool’s Day origins are unknown. Don’t get trapped today. Jesus didn’t get trapped today, his time had not come. Even the opponents of Jesus knew him, and knew where he came from. The Lord is near to broken hearts. The movement during Lent is always towards God and to further repentance. God is close to those who call. The global pandemic has reminded us that we are all connected. Where there is one broken heart, there our heart is too. Today we hear a reassurance of God being close to those whose spirit is crushed. Today we raise a prayer for those whose spirit is crushed.
