About Today Readings

Hebrews 10:32-39. Psalms 36(37):3-6, 23-24, 39-40. Mark 4:26-34.

The salvation of the just comes from the Lord—Ps 36(37):3-6, 23-24, 39-40.

‘It grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs.’

We may face many adversities in life, but Paul exhorts us to endure because of our hope for salvation. God is our refuge in time of trouble and will sustain us in our efforts.

Jesus loved to tell parables, especially about nature, to bring home his messages. Today he shows us that we have no control after we have planted the seed until we gather the harvest. The small mustard seed is a wonderful example of how the power and care of God can bring about a transformation into a mighty tree which gives shelter to all the birds. So too our trust and confidence will be rewarded by his promise of eternal life.
