Saints come in all guises

Today is the feast day of St Camillus de Lellis. He is the patron saint of the sick, hospitals, nurses and physicians. The thing that struck me about him was his change from argumentative, difficult and grumbling to someone who gave time and his presence to those who were sick and dying. He was still difficult and argumentative by all accounts, but he used that to stand up for the rights of the sick who were often badly treated by hospitals. The order he established, the Camillians, cared for those that no one else would, those with the plague, prisoners and the poor. He is a reminder, that saints come in all guises, and sometimes being difficult and argumentative on behalf of those being mistreated, is just what is needed.
