Discipleship is hard, but it brings joy
Today’s reading is a warning. How can you be sure you are saved? Is your relationship with the Lord true and pure? Have you followed the Spirit, and do you serve as you have been called to? How have you spread the Good News, and can others see in your actions and words the impression of God? Have you become complacent in your relationship with God and others? Are you flying on autopilot?
These thoughts should challenge and possibly upset you. Discipleship is not easy, but it brings consolation and complete joy. It is contradictory in nature as although it is not easy, a true disciple is not aware of the challenge or concerned about the cost. Live in a way that you lose your life – then you will keep it.
