Day of penance
Wisdom 2:1, 12-22. The Lord is near to broken hearts – Psalm 33(34):16, 18-21, 23. John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30.
Discerning God’s voice
Both the first reading and the Gospel today are reminders that we cannot say that we completely know the mind of God. We can pray, read, reflect and listen to wise people, but we can never say that we unequivocally know God. There are many things and people that give us glimpses, but sometimes things can get confusing. Even the Bible contradicts itself and there are always people who have an interpretation that seems completely contra to what we ourselves feel is right, good and Christian. How do you discern God’s voice among all the noise?
