How are we the heart of God in today’s world?

This most holy feast day reminds us of the love and compassion of the heart of Christ towards humanity. Traditionally we used to have gifts offered during Mass on this day to help the poor in our society. St Gertrude of Helfta and St Margaret Mary Alocoque highlighted through their lives and writings the great devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. St Mary MacKillop once wrote, “when storms rage, when persecutions or dangers threaten, I quietly creep into the deep abyss of the Sacred Heart; and securely sheltered there, my soul is in peace, though my body is tossed upon the stormy waves of a cold and selfish world”. In more recent times the words that could inspire us used by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart “to be on earth the heart of God”. How will you be the heart of God in the world today?
