Exodus 11:10 – 12:14. I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord – Ps 115(116):12-13, 15-18. Matthew 12:1-8.
Called to trust in God’s guidance
Today’s passages from Exodus and Matthew highlight God’s mercy, obedience and the significance of sacrifice. In Exodus we hear God establishing authority over Pharoah in Egypt, and in Matthew Jesus asserts his authority over the Sabbath.
Sometimes in our lives we focus more on religious rules rather than on showing mercy. Where do we need to trust God today for mercy? It reminds us of the theme of the Year of Jubilee – that of freedom, mercy, renewal and trust in God’s providence.
Just as the Israelites in Exodus were on the move, stepping into the unknown with faith, how are you being called to trust in God’s guidance on your journey?
