About Today Readings

Presentation of The Lord.

Malachi 3:1-4. Psalm 23(24):7-10. Hebrews 2:14-18. Luke 2:22-40.

Who is this king of glory? It is the Lord! — Psalm 23(24):7-10.

‘My eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of the peoples.’

It took more than their natural abilities for Simeon and Anna to recognise Jesus in the Temple. The Holy Spirit had opened the eyes of their inner selves. That same Holy Spirit wants to open our eyes to see Jesus in new ways too. He lives in us. He longs to speak to us.

What will happen if we open our hearts to him? We will gain a godly perspective on our lives. Problems will no longer seem so daunting, for we will know that Christ is with us to help us. The little joys of life will take on new sweetness, for we will see each of them as glimpses of heaven. We will become more vigilant against sin and temptation.

Today Jesus wants to present himself at the temple of our hearts. Let us go ahead and let him in.
