St Oscar Romero | Day of penance
Wisdom 2:1, 12-22. The Lord is near to broken hearts – Psalm 33(34):16, 18-21, 23. John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30.
They would have arrested him, but his time had not yet come
When I read this scripture from John, I am astonished at the calm, brave way that Jesus went about his ministry, knowing there were essentially large sections of the community looking to kill him. No bodyguards, security detail, or bouncers, warding people away in the hope of removing risk. Jesus, assured of the love of his Father, resolute in the mission given to him, living the truth that he is the Resurrection, spoke and walked with strength and conviction. I believe you Jesus, I know your voice, and I will not be snatched from your hand.
