Our Lady Help of Christians

Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31. You are the highest honour of our race – Judith 13:18-20. James 3:13-18. Luke 1:39-56.

Mary arose and went with haste

Felicity: Mary, I’m really rapt with your visit to Elizabeth. A long hot climb and you carrying your baby all the way. But what a lovely gift to Elizabeth. What was the best part of your visit?

Mary: Well, the main thing we had in common, Felicity, was the amazing surprise of God coming into our lives and into the unexpected birth of our children. To share that huge gift together was really special. You can catch it in my song, can’t you?

Felicity: Yes, Mary, it speaks to me of God’s plan for the world and especially the poor. For me it makes you a woman for all seasons. How should I pray to you?

Mary: If you need to pray to me in hard times, Felicity, words will find themselves. But your prayer should be like my visit to Elizabeth. It should take you beyond yourself to God’s Son Jesus.
