About Today Readings

Daniel 7:2-14. Give glory and eternal praise to him! – Daniel 3:75-81. Luke 21:29-33.

When the fig tree buds summer is near

When fig trees lose their winter grey
and swell with early greening,
with hope of flower and fruit,
our hearts will dream of summer.

That’s how your winter ended, Lord,
and summer stole in early.
The fig tree died providing wood
on which you hung while fruiting.

So may we read the signs today
that speak of death and rising,
and find in you the tender fruit
of our beset world’s saving.
