Ss Timothy & Titus; St Angela Merici | Day of penance
Hebrews 10:32-39. The salvation of the just comes from the Lord – Psalm 36(37):3-6, 23-24, 39-40. Mark 4:26-34.
We are the sort who keep faithful
In Hebrews 10 we are invited to remember what receiving the light has cost us thus far. How can the gift of light, in a world of darkness, be a burden? How can it exist alongside suffering and loss? The hope is that Christ will come again and nothing in this world will be worth anything anymore because all will be assumed into God. The Gospel of Mark tries to explain what the kingdom will be like. Jesus only uses parables because no single description will work. The seed that is sown and then somehow grows and produces seed is not a surprise to the farmer, but he does not know how it happens. The tiny mustard seed grows into a huge and wonderful bush. We do not need to know the workings of God’s mind, we simply have to be there, be ready and enter into the life of the kingdom.
