Daniel 7:2-14. Give glory and eternal praise to him – Daniel 3:75-81. Luke 21:29-33.
God’s Word remains eternal
Today’s readings draw a lot of imagery from the natural world. The psalmist calls on all creatures and all of nature to praise God. Today’s Gospel measures time in the fruiting of a fig tree and reminds us that God’ Word remains eternal beyond all that surrounds us.
When we are attuned to the natural world, when we spend time in God’s creation, listening to birdsong and paying attention to the turning of the seasons, we can draw closer to God.
I often pray in the morning, while walking or running outdoors. Prayer helps me to notice the beauty of creation, and this continues throughout the day, long after I’ve said ‘Amen’.
