St Thomas
Ephesians 2:19-22. Go out to all the world and tell the Good News – Ps 116(117). John 20:24-29.
You are no longer aliens or foreign visitors
We have much to thank ‘Doubting Thomas’ for. For all the times we struggle with faith, we find a friend whom Jesus reached out to. His ‘My Lord and my God!’ is the clearest declaration of Jesus’ divinity in the Gospels. He is also credited, by tradition, with evangelising and starting many churches in the Middle East and India.
Through him, the Good News has been shared far and wide. So, thank you, Thomas. In you, I know that no matter what nationality, ethnicity, background or level of belief, we all find a place in God’s family. Jesus is our brother and friend, who even after suffering extends his hand and offers peace. Let us share that peace with others and help them to know that all are welcome in the Church.
