Trust our work will bear fruit

The growth of seeds goes unnoticed. However, the day will come and we will see the sprouts of green, the buds ready to bloom and, at times, fruits on their way to be harvested. Jesus uses imagery of scattering seeds, particularly that of the mustard seed, to demonstrate man’s efforts, and God’s providence in bringing about the Kingdom of God on earth. As followers of Jesus, sometimes we are asked to do God’s work in places with which we are unfamiliar. Sometimes we do not know the measure of ‘success’ that has occurred due to our faithfulness to the mission grounds God calls us to. Sometimes, we are there for many years, and other times we are there for the season. In an act of surrender – we trust that the work we do will bear fruit, in God’s time – even if we do not see the growth in the moment.
