Let all the earth cry out to God with joy—Psalm 99(100).
‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’
Thank goodness Nathaniel was convinced to come and see for himself. But what if he hadn’t? what if he had stayed in his comfort zone and continued to judge Nazarenes? He would have missed out on so much.
In the same vein, do we prejudge people, experiences, places? Of course, we do and regularly for many of us. Just the other day, I walked to the bus stop and saw a girl already there. I immediately thought, ‘Oh, she looks a bit scary, I hope she doesn’t talk to me’.
Then I realised I had forgotten my purse. I ran home to get it (luckily the bus stop is outside my house). I came back and she had asked the bus driver to wait for me. It was a lesson for me, simple and crystal clear.
