About Today Readings

Our Lady of the Rosary

Galatians 3:7-14. The Lord will remember his covenant for ever – Psalm 110(111):1-6. Luke 11:15-26.

A world to delight us

In today’s psalm, we are given an image of a God who provides for all our needs from the most basic, ‘food for those who fear him’ to the more complex, ‘great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who have pleasure in them’. A God who knows his people completely, delights in these people and makes a world for them that will not only nurture them, but delight them also. To me, this is such a gift of love, a world that will delight us. A world ‘full of honour and majesty’. And yet, our God knows that there are also times when delight can feel hard to come by and at these times, God provides sustenance to keep us going until we are ready to feel the delight again.
