Move beyond the ease of our own lives

In common parlance we often talk about sorting the wheat from the chaff or the sheep from the goats. It is about who does what and when and to whom and who does nothing. Jesus explains that those who have done good things for the least of his brothers and sisters have also done them for him. This echoes what Pope Francis said when he reiterated the truth that loving your neighbour is loving God. Loving one’s neighbour is not just about being nice to someone like us. Sometimes it demands us to move beyond our comfort zone and out of complacency to see what is going on beyond the ease our own lives. Let us hope when God makes that final judgment we are on the side of the sheep with their good shepherd, on the right side with the righteous.
