About Today Readings

Genesis 4:1-15, 25. Offer to God a sacrifice of praise – Psalm 49(50):1-8, 16-17, 20-21. Mark 8:11-13.

God hears our desires

He sighed deeply. Whenever anyone sighs deeply at a question, it’s generally never a good sign. Jesus sounded pretty frustrated with the Pharisees who kept on testing him and asking him for a sign. So much so that he decides not to stay and persevere with trying to get through to them, but instead leaves, gets back in the boat and goes to the other side. Yikes. I wonder if Jesus ever feels that frustrated with me? How many signs do I need before I will open my heart to God and let God into my life? Are my eyes open to the wonders God continues to work in my life and in my world? Is there something more I want from God before I am willing to trust my life to God? May we approach God in faith, knowing that God hears our desires, understands our doubts and loves us through it all.
