Week 1 Psalter. 1st Week in Ordinary Time
Hebrews 1:1-6. Psalm 96(97):1-2, 6-7, 9. Mark 1:14-20.
Let all his angels worship him – Psalm 96(97):1-2, 6-7, 9.
‘Follow me and I will make you fish for people.’
Once, reflecting on this passage, I decided to prayerfully make contact with Simon and Andrew in their later life. I asked them what difference that chance encounter with Jesus had made to their lives.
In my imagination, their eyes filled with tears, and they were bereft of words. Then they told how it had changed everything. Jesus became the centre of their lives, both while they lived with him and afterwards. The Father’s love was available to everyone and they would do what they could to show others his love and compassion.
Jesus, you want to encounter me also. Just as Simon and Andrew could have ignored you, so can I. Let me be open to allowing you to transform my life.
