About Today Readings

Apocalypse 1:1-4; 2:1-5. Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life – Psalm 1:1-4, 6. Luke 18:35-43.

He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God

In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus heals a blind man. The man humbly asks Jesus for his pity. He knows that Jesus can heal those who ask and have faith. Jesus says, ‘Your faith has saved you’. The man’s sight returns, and he gives glory to God as a witness to others of his goodness. In this account of Jesus’ healing ministry, we learn what is pleasing to God: humility, poverty of spirit, faith, and praise.

God, please help me remember that my faith will save me, and let me not forget to repent for my transgressions. God, remind me to ask for your pity and expect your mercy so I may witness to your wondrous ways.
