About Today Readings

Jesus fulfills our needs

Today’s Gospel prompts us to reflect on why we seek out Jesus. Is it because of his teaching, or is it because through our faith, our bellies are filled? We know that Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs (physiological, safety, love and belonging, esteem and self-actualisation) tells us that there is no point trying to teach someone when they are hungry or have nowhere to live. But, once those needs are met, how much do we then do to feed our faith and that of those around us?
