The Word of God brought to life

The Word of God is living and active. Again in the Gospel of Mark we hear Jesus being questioned about the behaviour of his disciples. Jesus is resolute and steadfast in his response. There is a time of feasting and a time of fasting. Jesus uses images that are common to the people – wine skins. Today wine is stored in bottles, and so it may not retain the same meaning. Jesus is here to bring to life the Word of God that is living and active. When you hear these words – what do you feel? Remind yourself of the times in your life where you have feasted and fasted. How is the Word of God living and active in your life?
