Isaiah 1:10-17. Psalm 49(50):8-9, 16-17, 21, 23. Matthew 10:34 – 11:1.
To the upright I will show the saving power of God—Psalm 49(50):8-9, 16-17, 21, 23.
‘Learn to do good, search for justice, discipline the violent, be just to the orphan, plead for the widow.’
Lord, you present so many apparent paradoxes to us, we are sometimes unsure which way to turn. The sword, not peace? Prefer you over father or mother? Yet, to all these questions, answers, or acceptance, can be given, if we sincerely seek the truth.
We have only one life. Give us the strength to follow where our restless heart leads, until it is filled to the capacity you intend for each one of us. When our conscience tells us clearly what you are asking, may we say yes to you. May we be willing to place our lives before you.
