Judges 2:11-19. Lord, remember us, for the love you bear your people – Ps 105(106):34-37, 39-40, 43-44. Matthew 19:16-22.
God remembers his people
Lord, remember us for the love you bear your people. The psalm today is a plea for God’s mercy. It recounts repeated failures, forgetting God’s works, rebelling, and turning to idols, and yet it also highlights God’s enduring faithfulness. Despite the unfaithfulness of the people, God heard the cries and remembered his Covenant.
It’s a powerful reminder that we rely not on our own righteousness but on God’s steadfast love. This is especially meaningful in the Year of Jubilee, a time of renewal, mercy and forgiveness. Just as God rescued Israel time and time again, God invites us to return to him, no matter how far we have strayed. As pilgrims of hope, we trust that God’s love is greater than our failures.
May we call on God with humble hearts, knowing that he always remembers and redeems his people.
