About Today Readings

St Luke, Evangelist

2 Timothy 4:10-17. Your friends tell the glory of your kingship, Lord – Psalm 144(145):10-13, 17-18. Luke 10:1-9.

Your peace will rest on that man

But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and all might hear it. Most of us do not work in foreign mission fields. We work closer to home, in our families, our workplaces, our community groups, our neighbourhoods. We might not all experience the call to be a missionary, but we all have a mission, we are all sent by God into the world to proclaim the good news wherever we are. God is with us and in us, as we proclaim the good news through our lives, in the way we choose integrity and honesty over the path of least resistance, in the way we prioritise others’ needs, in the way we listen and encourage others, in the way we care for the earth and try to minimise our carbon footprint, in the way we respectfully and lovingly speak with other people.
