2 Kings 17:5-8, 13-15, 18. Help us with your right hand, O Lord, and answer us – Psalm 59(60):3-5, 12-13. Matthew 7:1-5.
Do not judge, and you will not be judged
Lord, I see my brother clearly
And am appalled. He looks angelic
But underneath he is a judge
who feels superior to me.
Lord, you and me, we aren’t like that.
We never judge our friends at all,
But only hypocrites like him
Whose hearts and tongues are forked.
Each evening, Lord, I scrutinise
myself and take delight in what
I see. Well, no – why should I look
For logs inside my own two eyes?
