Hebrews 9:15, 24-28
Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvellous deeds – Psalm 97(98):1-6. Mark 3:22-30.
Whoever sins against the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven
Amy: I can understand you were annoyed, Jesus. Your family wanted to take you away and the big city lawyers came down to have you locked up. But accusing them of committing an unforgiveable sin is going a bit far. Didn’t you die to forgive all sins?
Jesus: Don’t you need to be open to be forgiven, Amy? If you deliberately dismiss good things like freeing people as evil, you will be trapped in lies and never be open to God’s love. Don’t you know people like that?
Amy: Not really. But sure, some people do badmouth good actions because they hate the person who does them. Still, I hope their sins will be forgiven if they repent, Jesus.
Jesus: You have a kind heart, Amy. And yes, the sin is unforgiveable, not the sinner. People often don’t know what they are doing. So pray they will be open to God’s truth and love.
Amy: That’s a big ask, Jesus.
