We all need to follow the righteous path
Today’s readings offer a warning about how we live our lives. It’s not enough to say that we’re followers of Christ, or to preach the Good News. If we don’t try to follow the righteous path in our private lives as well as our public lives, we are not true followers.
We might see the warning as relevant for public figures who claim to be Christian, whose private lives reveal very un-Christian transgressions. But it’s relevant to all of us, both in the choices we make in our relationships with God and those around us, and the generosity we offer to those outside our circles.
Lord, we pray today that we are oriented towards you in everything we do, both in our public lives and our private spaces.
