 Help my unbelief

Esperanza: Jesus, I felt sorry for your poor disciples – standing there, proud to be associated with you, and to be given special powers. But when the man asked them to heal his son, they couldn’t, with all the religious folk mocking them and you. Why didn’t you heal the boy straight away?

Jesus: It’s not as simple as that, Esperanza. To be healed you need to trust the healer. And to heal you need to trust God. It’s not mechanical. The disciples focused on putting down the religious folk. They made healing about themselves, not God. And the poor boy’s father was healer shopping. It had to be personal.

Esperanza: Is that why you went over to him, Jesus, and asked if he trusted you. His answer was a bit weak, though, wasn’t it?

Jesus: No, Esperanza
