Ezra 1:1-6. Psalm 125(126). Luke 8:16-18.
The Lord has done marvels for us — Psalm 125(126).
You, Lord, are the lamp that lights up our lives.
Quietly, gently, your Spirit moves within us, seeking room in our heart.
Even while we go about our everyday life, your plan changes within us—changes which your Spirit can inflame into new life and light, to be a beacon to others.
This light will shine, not because of our power but because of yours.
What must we do? Every day you ask us to give you the simple, little things of life: a thank you here, a smile there, a refraining from gossip and harsh talk everywhere.
You ask us to make these small gifts to you all our days. And if we respond, your light will shine, fuelled by these small, simple events and feelings.
How wonderfully, Lord, you love our daily life!
