About Today Readings

Ss Peter & Paul

Acts 12:1-11. The Lord has set me free from all my fears – Ps 33(34):2-9. 2 Timothy 4:6-8, 17-18. Matthew 16:13-19.

Who do we say that Jesus is?

‘Who do you say that I am?’ This is a question for us as much as it is for Peter and the disciples. Who do we say that Jesus is? Is Jesus somebody we hold safely at arm’s length? A nice idea we think about on Sunday morning and ignore for the rest of the week? Is Jesus a vague sense of duty? A general afterthought?

Peter says, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’

If we are to believe this, to truly take this on, how will it affect the way we are called? The way we choose to live? Lord, help me to remember who you are and who you call me to be.
