Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church
Ecclesiasticus 17:24-29. Let the just exult and rejoice in the Lord – Psalm 31(32):1-2, 5-7. Mark 10:17-27.

Thank you for sharing your mother with us

When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son’. Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother’.

Lord, how blessed are we that you gave your mother to us. At the foot of the cross, she stood witnessing your agony. You then offered your beloved apostle as her new son. The apostle John would care for her until the end of her life. Mother Mary cares for us as though we are her own children. She keeps us in her heart as she held you in her arms. She tends to your Church as she cared for you.

Lord, we will never be able to thank you enough for sharing your mother with us. For this, let us remember to thank you and her every day of our lives.
