St Martin de Porres
Romans 11:29-36. Lord, in your great love, answer me – Ps 68(69):30-31, 33-34, 36-37. Luke 14:12-14.
All comes from God
Jesus teaches us to give without seeking reward, serving those who cannot repay us. St Martin de Porres lived this beautifully by caring for the sick, the poor and those on the margins. His mission wasn’t grand or glamorous, but it was holy. He reminds us that love, when poured out in quiet acts of service, speaks most powerfully of God. As Paul writes, all comes from God and returns to him. Our gifts, our energy and our time are entrusted to us for a purpose. Mission isn’t about status; it’s about self-giving.
‘Lord, in your great love, help us follow the example of St Martin. Teach us to welcome others with joy, to serve with humility, and to see your face in everyone we meet.’
