She straightened up
What is bowing us down? Does anything feel heavy on our shoulders? Look around at other people today. Can you see the invisible burdens they carry? As much as Jesus wants to heal us from our enfeeblements, he calls us to free others from theirs. Like the simple act of taking a donkey to water, we participate with God in giving others life. And this is truly an act of worship, of appropriate Sabbath action. Justice and religion are not opposed. Service is not for weekdays only. True Christianity brings freedom, life, hope and wholeness. Whenever we, or others, are bowed down, we invite divine intervention. And what better divine intervention than you or I seeing with the eyes of God and taking action. Then we might have the enormous privilege of experiencing someone straighten up – a reason to glorify God.
