1 Corinthians 2:1-5. Lord, I love your commands – Ps 118(119):97-102. Luke 4:16-30.
Patience in trusting God
Why is it that people close to us cannot always appreciate us? I grew up in a regional town that valued conformity over intelligence, independence or open-mindedness. To grow, I had to leave behind a place and people I cared for deeply. My heart longs for the countryside, but my life thrives in the anonymity, artistic community, and acceptance in the city.
Not everyone can walk our path with us, and that is OK. Paul reminds the Corinthians that faith rests on God’s power, not persuasive words. In Matthew, Jesus is rejected in Nazareth.
Patience grows trust in God’s Spirit, even when others doubt or oppose us.
Dear God, help me patiently grow into the place I am meant to be. Amen.
