About Today Readings

Acts 14:5-18. Not to us, O Lord, but to your name give the glory – Ps 113B(115):1-4, 15-16. John 14:21-26.

God notices and values faithfulness

All glory belongs to God alone, and the Holy Spirit guides us in truth and love. Humility invites us to recognise that our gifts and achievements are entrusted to us, not earned solely by our efforts. Adults might practise this by celebrating team accomplishments instead of seeking individual accolades, mentoring others without expecting recognition, or acknowledging God’s guidance in career or family successes. When it feels frustrating not to receive credit, we can remember that God notices and values our faithfulness, and we can quietly offer our work as an act of love. By grounding our efforts in God rather than worldly recognition, we live the virtue of humility in daily actions. We pray: Holy Spirit, guide me to work with gratitude and humility, honouring your presence in all I do.
