About Today Readings

Titus 1:1-9. Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face – Psalm 23(24):1-6. Luke 17:1-6.

We should stand up for those being hurt

I love that in today’s Gospel, Jesus does not just tell his disciples to forgive over and over, but also to call out sin when they see it. This is often one of the hardest things to do. We worry that telling someone that you think that they have done wrong will ruin our relationship. We choose to remain silent and in so doing, we are allowing this person to continue to hurt others. We are silently saying to them, ‘There was nothing wrong with what you did’ or worse, ‘I support you in what you are doing’. As true followers of Christ, we should stand up for those being hurt. When this is hard to do, we need to pray. I am sure that help will be given because our God wants us to be our best selves.
