Ecclesiasticus 17:1-15. The Lord’s kindness is everlasting to those who fear him – Ps 102(103):13-18. Mark 10:13-16.
Whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.
Some adults see children as a bother. Many adults can become irritated with little ones with what can seem like constant giggles, complaints or questions. But in today’s Gospel, we hear Jesus stating that the kingdom belongs to those with innocent hearts of children. Jesus reminds us that we are to return to a childlike faith to enter his kingdom. With the hearts of children, we are called to approach God. With innocent eyes and ears, may we hear the Gospel.
Lord Jesus, may I approach you and your teachings with the gentleness, trust, and faith of a little child. May I not stray to the road of sophistication but remain on the path of childlike innocence you set before me.
