Blessings

When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. Thus begins one of Jesus’ most important teachings: his Sermon on the Mount. The ‘mount’ is known as the Mount of the Beatitudes in northern Israel. It is here that the disciples receive the beatitudes, meaning blessings. Each beatitude shares a quality and its corresponding blessing, but they are almost a promise from heaven. Jesus is teaching them the ways of God and a plan for his followers to make a heaven on Earth.

Lord, may I learn to live your beatitudes, so I may bring your kingdom to those who love you. May I embody each beatitude into my daily thoughts, intentions and actions so that all who meet me will encounter you.
