About Today Readings

Galatians 3:22-29. The Lord will remember his covenant for ever – Psalm 104(105):2-7. Luke 11:27-28.

‘Blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it’

We all have ears to hear, but we often don’t listen. There’s a new show on Netflix or a podcast we’ve been meaning to catch up on. It’s a bit noisy down here on planet Earth.

We can either learn by wisdom or consequence. Some of us are better at taking direction. Others need to learn from our own trial and error. But Jesus doesn’t want us to struggle. He hopes for us to be wise, heed his warnings, and be with Him in Paradise.

But sometimes making it to heaven and what Jesus wants don’t seem to be a priority. We make excuses. ‘Oh, that’s an old rule. It’s only meant for Sundays. It’s really only a suggestion.’

Then, we learn through consequences. Crash and burn. We remember the pain, the disappointment, the heartache, the stomach ache, or the headache. But, we can always begin again and try learning from wisdom this time.

Lord please, help us not to test Your Word. Help us to follow it. It may seem like the more difficult road but in the end, your way is easier.
