Galatians 3:22-29. The Lord will remember his covenant for ever – Ps 104(105):2-7. Luke 11:27-28.
One in Christ
We are all one in Christ. No longer are we Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female. So declares Paul to the Galatians in our first reading today. The Gospel affirms that Mary’s greatness stems from hearing and accepting the message of the Archangel Gabriel. So began the new story of the grandeur of humanity. We are one in her child. In his recent encyclical Magnifica humanitas, Pope Leo spells out a spirituality for our time, central to which is the affirmation that ‘the Word became flesh’. We belong to Christ, not to an algorithm in a digital platform controlled by billionaires. In the Word that became flesh we are one with all on earth and in heaven. ‘In the Eucharist,’ Pope Leo declares, ‘we find a visible manifestation of the reality that we are the Church of Christ, his members, his body’ (#235).
