Primacy of God’s Word

Sometimes, there are groups who guard their privilege carefully and do not want to acknowledge or share it with others, especially those they deem not to have the training or education that might befit a position of leadership.

In Jesus’ time, the members of the Sanhedrin were the religious elite and did not like it that Peter and John were witnesses to healing and were speaking openly and widely about Jesus. The truth is not something that can only be delivered by certain people. It can be declared by those who are bold enough to defy custom or convention. Despite their lack of education, the disciples are clever enough to understand the primacy of God’s Word through Jesus over man’s word as dictated by membership of the Sanhedrin. We, too, should not be afraid to speak or teach in Jesus’ name, whatever our background. It is our way of praising God.
