The importance of paying attention
In today’s Gospel, Jesus talks about how Elijah has already come, in the person of John the Baptist, but the people did not recognise him. It made me reflect on the ways God works in my life, but which I do not recognise.
How often do I read God’s love letters to me written in the beauty of nature? How is God talking to me through the people in my life? Do I pray mindfully, discerning God’s will, or am I thinking only of myself?
Today, I’m going to reflect on the importance of listening and of paying attention in prayer. I’m going to allow God a gap in the conversation.
