Learn to accept help from others

There is abundance when we humbly ask God to bless and multiply our efforts. However, it’s easy to rely on our own efforts, skipping over the blessing and then being disappointed when people go away hungry and unsatisfied.

We also learn from the Gospel that we need to rely on the support of others, both great and small. Saint Oscar Romero reminds us ‘we cannot do everything, and there is a sense of liberation in realising that. This enables us to do something, and to do it very well. It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning, a step along the way, an opportunity for the Lord’s grace to enter and do the rest.’

Just like the small boy with his fish, we too are humble workers and Jesus is the master builder who multiplies our gifts when we offer them to him.
