Special year in our faith
January 2025 this year is my own personal second Jubilee year – yes, 50! So I have started this year authentically ‘jubileeing’! We can look forward to this special year in our faith, in our Church, with its rich history of challenging injustice, seeking peace and restoring relationships.
I recall the Year 2000 Jubilee which campaigned for the forgiveness of Third World debt. Nations contributed, the secular world joined in with ‘Make Poverty History’ and the Millennium Development Goals were publicised. It was a vehicle of hope for change and had its origins in Leviticus – most excellent resources for teaching RE in the Year 2000.
As ‘Pilgrims of Hope – on the path to peace’, may reconciliation be facilitated where hurt, war, injustice and fear exist, and may we inspire the world to come on board with it.
