St Jane Frances de Chantal
Deuteronomy 6:4-13. I love you, Lord, my strength – Psalm 17(18):2-4, 47, 51. Matthew 17:14-20.
What does the mustard seed mean to you?
Nothing will be impossible for you. What a promise today’s reading makes. The question of course is how do you plant a mustard seed and nurture it until it becomes a great tree? The answer is simple plant it and care for it. This is a lovely metaphor but for it to offer any depth you must determine what the mustard seed means to you. Faith is the literal understanding. But that bush may already be doing well. Maybe you need to plant the seed of mercy or openness. Whatever seed needs to be planted do it today, nurture it each day and be assured that you will be rewarded no matter how far-fetched your desire may be. Nothing is impossible for God.
